Start: 14:00 / Arrival: 19:00
Distance: 42km / Gained height 110 hm
Having spent a couple of days in Taipei, this was my first small trip – sort of a test, if I can use this route as a regular sporting track. Although I know the route, it’s always nice to ride, as most of the route is without cars, with dedicated touristic cycling infrastructure.
Started of at 14:00 in the heat. On the way north I saw some dragon boat race, which was quite impressive. Along the Tamsui river I quite had some moments with wet eyes – I still cannot believe, that I’m staying longer now here….
Had then some abalone soup in Tamsui, which is a very beautiful small town. Also chilled there a bit with a view on the ocean in the distance.
Then took the ferry to Bali, had some stinky doufu and headed back to Taipei, where I saw some elder people dancing and having fun to old music. A little bit further there was a dancing group of indigenous, performing to some version of…what you might know under the sampling from “Enigma” – “Return to innocence”.
Afterwards went to the night market just around the corner of my new home.
Hi Micha, just finished listening to your story in Taiwancast. Since I live in Tainan, I’m hoping to get some inspiration from your blog to explore more of the country by bike. 🙂 So thank you for sharing your experience here!
Is your title wrong on this post? It seems like you went to Tamsui, not Keelung.
Best regards
Henrik
Hi Henrik!
Oh yes….you are right – I confused them, because I was planing my trip for Keeling the next day 😉 Thanks for the notice…
And also thanks, that you found the blog. Hopefully have fun reading, although it is a rather a personal log, then explicit reviews. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me!
All the best,
Micha
